What is Incredible Edible?
The idea is simple: If you eat, you’re in!
Incredible Edible is a national community project that brings people together to grow food in shared spaces for everyone to enjoy.

How does it work?
Volunteers plant fruit, vegetables and herbs in shared spaces that anyone can help care for – and everyone is welcome to harvest!
It’s about kindness, collaboration and making fresh food accessible to all, while building stronger, greener communities.
About Incredible Edible Burghfield
Incredible Edible Burghfield launched at the beginning of 2025, inspired by Incredible Edible Mortimer and the national Incredible Edible movement. From small beginnings we are slowly building our presence, growing food in publicly accessible sites around the village, getting involved with and inspiring local groups and organisations, and encouraging the participation of local businesses.

Objectives of Incredible Edible Burghfield
We follow the principles defined in the three plates of the Incredible Edible movement, which are:
- Learning -We bring learning to life from plot to playground
- Community – We galvanise our community through growing and celebrating local food
- Business – We support local and we buy local
From these basic principles, we aim to achieve the following objectives:
- Grow fruit, vegetables and herbs in the community in publicly accessible places for people to help themselves
- Encourage people to tend to growing food – sowing, planting, watering, weeding, harvesting etc.
- Provide fresh fruit and vegetables to the community
- Encourage people to grow their own food
- Encourage use of more natural methods of growing (no chemical fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides etc.)
- Provide advice and help to growers
- Educate young people on how to grow fruit and vegetables. Include schools and local youth organisations
- Reduce food air miles
- Provide resources on how to use fresh food (recipes, preserving, storing etc.)
- Get people working together in the community to grow food
- Help promote local businesses
- Distribute seeds, seedlings and plants to the community
