What we do

Incredible Edible Burghfield follows the principles of the Incredible Edible movement

Learning

“We bring learning to life from plot to playground”

We involve ourselves with community youth organisations and schools to encourage children to learn about how to grow food and where their food comes from.

Community

“We galvanise our community through growing and celebrating local food”

With over 100 members of our Facebook group and growing, we are getting more people involved in our growing spaces and getting together to celebrate and enjoy growing our own food.

Business

“We support local and we buy local”

Wherever we can, we buy what we need from local businesses and suppliers. We also work with local businesses to support and promote them.

Our public sites

We grow fruit, vegetables and herbs in publicly accessible locations around the village.

Abbots Road

This site was set up in April 2026, consisting of two large raised beds and a number of planters and tyres. We have been allowed to use this site by the owner, John Bielous. Thank you John!

Methodist Church, Reading Road

We are currently working with a local Scout group to set up two large planters next to the car park at the Methodist Church.

The Hollies care home, Reading Road

The Hollies have recently launched a gardening club for residents and we are working with them. As part of this initiative, we have set up a site at the front of their building that is publicly accessible.

Clayhill Road

The front garden of one of our members. There are fruit trees, herbs, celery and lettuce at the moment, but much more as the summer progresses.

Acorn Gardens

The front garden of one of our members. Last year, courgettes, strawberries and other plants were grown there. Watch this space for more this year.
